Living the Days God Has Written for Us
Life can often feel like it’s rushing by, especially when we’re busy in the daily things. Between school, work, ministry, family, and other responsibilities, it’s easy to feel like we’re just going through the motions, unsure if we’re truly living out the purpose God has for us. But the truth is, every single day matters. God has written each one with purpose, and He desires for us to live fully in every moment, not missing a single opportunity to follow His lead.
Psalm 139:16 tells us:
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (NIV)
This verse reminds us that even before we were born, God planned out each day of our lives. Nothing is by accident, every day is a gift, filled with opportunities to grow, serve, and live according to His will.
Every day is an opportunity to make a difference, both in our lives and the lives of others. But it’s easy to let the busyness of life distract us from the potential God has built into each moment. In Ephesians 5:15-16, Paul encourages us:
“Be very careful, then, how you live not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (NIV)
Living wisely means being intentional with our time, not letting days slip by without acknowledging the opportunities God is placing before us. Whether we’re at work, studying, spending time with loved ones, or serving others, we are called to make the most of every moment.
It’s easy to feel like we’re missing out or falling behind, especially when things feel rushed or overwhelming. But we can take comfort in knowing that God’s timing is perfect. In Ecclesiastes 3:1, we read:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” (NIV)
Whether you’re in a season of quiet reflection or one of action and hustle, or like me in a baby world trust that God has ordained each moment for His purpose. Even when things don’t go as planned, He is working through each day to fulfill His greater purpose for your life. To live fully in the days God has written for us, we need to be present in each one. Jesus taught us to focus on today, not to be consumed with worry about tomorrow. In Matthew 6:34, He says: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (NIV)
When we live in the present, we open ourselves to the opportunities God provides. We can be more intentional about showing kindness, helping others, and being faithful in the small tasks of the day. Every action can be an opportunity to bring glory to God.
Some things that have helped me in making the Most of God’s Plan for me, through different seasons
- Be Present: In every moment, focus on being fully engaged. Whether you’re working, studying, or spending time with family, give it your full attention.
- Live with Gratitude: Thank God for each day, even the challenges, knowing He is using every moment to shape you.
- Step Out in Faith: When God presents an opportunity, take it. Whether it’s an act of kindness, an invitation to serve, or a chance to grow in your relationship with Him, trust that He is leading you to something good.
- Trust His Timing: Don’t rush ahead or look back in regret. Trust that the days God has written for you are perfect in His eyes.
Life moves quickly, but each day is filled with opportunities to follow God’s plan for us. We don’t want to miss a single moment He has given us, whether it’s in the small, everyday tasks or the big, life changing decisions. Remember, God has already written every day with purpose. Let’s live each day intentionally, trusting in His perfect timing and making the most of every opportunity He gives us. Let’s live wisely, fully embracing the days God has given, knowing that He has great things in store for each moment.
As Psalm 90:12 encourages us:
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (NIV)
